Description
Wild Idol Alcohol Free Sparkling White 2022 delivers exactly what its name suggests, alcohol-free sparkling white wine unlike many other wines labelled alcohol-free. Most zero alcohol wines are first made as wine and then dealcoholised and can legally contain up to 0.5% ABV (alcohol by volume). This wine and its sister wine Wild Idol Alcohol Free Sparkling Rosé 2023 are different in that they are produced alcohol-free naturally.
Wild Idol Alcohol Free Sparkling White 2022 is produced in England from the juice of Müller Thurgau grapes, an aromatic variety of German origin. The juice is chilled specifically so that it doesn’t ferment and to transfer the fruit-dominant characteristic of the juice into the wine. The flavours of the wine are predominantly crisp green apples, white peach and melon with notes of jasmine and green tea coming through on the long finish.
To make the wine bubbly, carbonation is carried out under pressure followed by sterile filtration to ensure the wine’s stability, minimise any loss of flavour and to maintain balance and purity of fruit. The wine tastes dry; its crisp acidity and the long-lasting fine bubbles counter the residual sugar from the fruit juice. There are still only about 180 calories in the whole bottle too, another advantage of this zero alcohol sparkling white wine. Read more about alcohol in wine in my blogpost.
