Description
Ridgeview Blanc de Noirs 2015 is a very welcome addition to the portfolio because I am a huge fan of Blanc de Noirs champagne. This wine is Blanc de Noirs English sparkling wine produced sustainably (certified) by the champagne method in only the best vintages from champagne grapes, Pinot Noir (52%) and Pinot Meunier (48%). Many of the grapes are grown just below the South Downs ridge on similar soils to the Champagne region in Ridgeview’s original estate and some come from specially selected partner growers. Ridgeview has learned since its inception in 1995 that diversifying their grape sources from select vineyards is key to the quality of wine since “all have very different characteristics and contribute something special to our English sparkling wine”.
Ridgeview Blanc de Noirs 2015 is an amazing sparkling wine that is full of apple, red berry and red cherry fruit flavours with ginger and toasty notes. It is rich and complex, balancing savoury nutty notes with ripe baked fruit. is beautifully balanced with a very long-lasting tasty finish. All in all, a lovely glass of bubbly!
Ridgeview has been at the forefront of the English wine revolution since owners, the Roberts family, planted their first vines in 1995. Their debut wine in 2000 won English Wine of the Year and their wines, including this one, continue to sweep the board at national and international wine competitions. Now run by the second generation of the family, they stick to their original aim – exceptional quality from vine to glass – and are considered specialists in cool climate viticulture and sustainable winemaking. They are a founder member of Sustainable Wines GB.
