Description

MiP Collection Premium Rosé 2023, also known as Made in Provence Collection Premium Rosé, is a beautifully pale rosé with lots of avid followers. Do not be fooled into thinking that the pale colour of this wine means it is without complexity. Quite the contrary! MiP Collection rosé wine is produced from Syrah, Grenache and Vermentino or Rolle grapes and is bursting with fruit aromas and flavours. The principal taste is of red fruits including raspberries and redcurrants but you can also detect red cherries and citrus fruits on the palate along with some almond, mineral and floral notes. This wine has a little more body compared to some Provence rosés and is very elegant. It is a dry rosé with crisp acidity and a long mineral and fruity finish.

Virginie and Guillaume Philip met whilst studying wine-making and, after graduating, put into practice what they had learnt at Domaine des Diables in the Sainte-Victoire area of Provence. They came up with the Made in Provence or MiP brand shortly afterwards to appeal in terms of packaging, marketing and of course wine to a “young and trendy clientele”. They have been winning awards for their wines ever since. They farm in “a sustainable, eco-friendly way, bordering on organic farming” and keep their wines, including MiP Collection Premium Rosé 2022, on the lees (or dead yeasts left over from fermentation) for some time in order to give the wines some structure and texture.

How to enjoy

Like many rosé wines, this is a great wine for drinking as an aperitif or with food; it is very versatile and it is easier to list the foods that you might want to avoid with this wine – butter based sauces, creamy sauces, curry, strong cheeses.

The producer recommends it as ideal for light meals, salads, BBQs and with Provençal-style cuisine in general – and perfect for a before-dinner drink with friends.

Serve at: 10 – 12°C

Producer's Notes

“Fuchsia pink robe. Powerful nose with predominant notes of citrus fruit and red berries. Very delicate mouth feel with the same aromatic notes as the nose and a long finish for lasting pleasure.”

Awards

Not yet reviewed but here’s what was said about the 2022 vintage:

17 points – Jancis Robinson.com – Jul 2023
“So pale you could almost mistake this for water, let alone white wine! Distinctly smoky with a bleached-sea-shell saltiness and the faintest outline of raspberry fruit and almond. It’s elegant, make no mistake.”
