I am out of this wine but if you email me I may be able to get hold of some more. Or take a look at my other red wines.
This wine is very similar to the 2013 vintage though slightly lighter and more elegant. Less new oak was used in the ageing process so the oak effect is more subtle.
This is deep ruby red in colour and a classic Barossa Shiraz with an interesting little addition - 2% Moscatel or Muscat, a highly perfumed grape more frequently seen in sweet wines.
Intense aromas of bramble fruits with pepper, chocolate and spice putting in an appearance. On the palate this is a luscious wine, creamier and smoother than the 2013 vintage, with a wide range of intense flavours - sweet dark berry fruits including blueberries, dark chocolate and a hint of tobacco and earthiness kick in as the complex flavours unfold. The finish is very long and full of juicy black fruit with a hint of almonds & smokiness.
Like the 2013 this is quite full bodied but tannins are very gentle making this very smooth to drink. It is well made and well balanced with a long creamy finish. Delicious!
Recommended with beef - grilled , roast or stewed - and would pair well with steak in pepper sauce. Shiraz is often quoted as a wine to have a barbeques and this one would certainly go well with smoky, barbequed meats including ribs in sweet sauce. Also goes well with most hard cheese.
"Dense dark berry fruits, with hints of tobacco and cocoa are further enhanced by subtle use of oak. This wine has been matured in 20% new French oak hogsheads, 10% new American oak barriques and the balance in 3 and 4 year old French oak hogsheads for 20 months sur lie, resulting in a sexy, textured palate. And who’s 2%? Moscatel! A splash of funk that supports the base line fruit, and puts the ‘ph’ in fat.
Colour: Dark plum. Bouquet: Lifted black fruit aromas with hints of earth and spice. Palate: Rich, phat, dark berry fruits, with hints of dark chocolate and Indian ink, supported by a dense core of tannins."

"Includes 2% moscatel, machine-picked from vineyards at Seppeltsfield, Marananga, Kalimna and Ebenezer, crushed/destemmed, static fermenters with 12 days on skins, fermentation finished in French oak, matured for 20 months in French hogsheads (18% new) and American barriques. Deeply coloured; interesting use of moscatel for co-fermentation; the cadence of the palate ebbs and flows, alcohol showing one moment, unexpected elegance the next."

"Ironic, cliché-rioja silver net round the bottle. Deep cherry red. Perfumed, peppery dark fruit soars from the glass. Lifted, lightly minty dark rich fruit with a chocolate note on the finish and some oak sweetness. Chewy, dense and super-smooth but firmly textured. Full bodied and spicy but somehow avoids alcoholic heat, even at 15% abv. Savoury aftertaste complements the richness of fruit."
